You didn't; you misunderstood my email.

It's just that the Google ranking method by no means will return a fair
ranking, and does not need to. The final ranking will be decided
ultimately by the admins (of course with the mentors; and most likely it
will be something like removing one or another application where the
student was accepted by some other mentoring organization, duplicate
applications for the same project etc.).
While on the one hand, it would be nice to have a perfectly fair ranking
system (maybe we should use condorcet-schwartz voting?), it on the other
hand actually is a strength that we can easily make adjustments to the
ranking on whatever criterions we consider most important. Especially
when handling duplicates.

So I was really talking about "fighting the ranking software"!
