If the "celebrities" can really be of any type, for example names like
table, penguin, t-rex or CO2 then it would be usefull, if instead you
plan to allow only people, then it would be somewhat limited as
educational app.

I've played lots of times a game with my family were one decides a name
and the other(s) have to devine it based on questions answered only by
yes/not. The names can be from any area: family people, animal names,
things being at home, etc... 
One can or can not announce the area, lowering or raising the
difficulty, choose more common names to keep small children interested
or instead choose hard to find names to prevent big children from
boring.
Wins the person who finds the name.
It's a nice game to play at car on a travel, even the driver can play at
it :)

One of the possible adaptations of this game to computers is not so far
from what you have exposed.
