Hello,

I have posted source tarballs (with and without fonts) for tux typing
1.7.3 on our site at http://tux4kids.alioth.debian.org. A windows
crossbuild will follow when I get home.

Main reasons for this release:

1. fix of bug that kept "./configure --prefix=FOO" from working
properly. Hopefully, tux typing will once again install and run
properly on BeOS. This fix was also needed for the
soon-to-be-released Macports build of tuxtype.

2. partial cleanup of font-loading code. We still rely on hard-coded
paths for non-bundled fonts as used in Debian, and these paths have
been added for all the new fonts required for the Indic languages.
There are now 11 bundled fonts! :(. Importantly, the program behaves
more sanely if it cannot find a requested font - it falls back on the
default font and prints an error message, rather than just
segfaulting. It only exits if it cannot even find the default font.

Holger, I think this may allow the extra fonts to be "recommends"
rather than hard dependencies for Debian purposes.

3. partial cleanup of wchar_t to uft8 conversion - also needed for
macports build.

I think tuxtype is getting pretty close to being in a presentable
(packagable) state now that Debian appears to be on the verge of
unfreezing.

Cheers,

David
