Hi,
just a very short reply, since I'm travelling around in an RV, and its
already late:
- poorly defined tags have been discussed a couple of times here, we
havn't found solutions for all of them yet. For the utility thing,
something like "standalone" has been discussed, for example.
- fuzzy tags: has been discussed a couple of times before. There are
some really good uses: maturity:.5, licence::free:.9, etc. - but this
will increase both tagging complexity and algorithm complexity a lot,
with not much benefit to add for the end user.
Including this information in the GUI will be really really hard.
Already now, users are often surprised to find entries not sorted
alphabetically; especially in the web gui I wrote where packages are
grouped by their tags for "small" groups, too. The grey bars provide
to little clue to how the grouping works.
Having packages sorted by some magic "rating" derived from the tags
will make things only worse.

best regards,
Erich Schubert
