[Pkg-openmpi-maintainers] Status of MPICH

Hi everyone,

as some of you may have noticed, MPICH was given away for adoption [1].
I'm not quite sure if anyone is still using it, but I believe to
remember one of us does. (Sylvestre?)

Anyway, I'm not quite sure in what way it affects us. Adam, the MPICH
maintainer, switched to OpenMPI. I'm not sure how many packages rely on
MPICH, but I think it may be quite a few. We're the ones who provide an
alternative, so IMHO we're indictly affected by that. Is there any
action we should take, like inviting Adam to join us or taking care of
MPICH? Or should we just wait for all MPICH-relying packages to switch
and help with transition problems?

I'm looking forward to hear your opinion on that.

Best regards
Manuel
