Yeah I just tried with vifnames, no more luck, sorry.
Running "xenstore-ls /local/domain/DOMU_ID/device/vif" shows that vif10+ 
are sorted before vif10- (ie. vif1, vif10, vif11, vif2, ...).

Via udev (MAC matching) or /etc/network/interfaces ?
I ask because it may help others, while this gets resolved.
