Sounds like a good idea to me.  I just filed the transition bug (copied to you) 
so you can start to use it.

Well, that depends on when wheezy is released.  Left to my own devices, I'd 
probably try to transition to the latest Boost version when "unstable" is open 
for new development again.  

Boost 1.53 was released in February, so I expect Boost 1.54 in early May.   
When does Ubuntu need to make a decision?  

Note also that the first transition from 1.49 to 1.53 or later will be fairly 
painful as that is 4 versions (a year in the life of Boost).  But a subsequent 
transition by one Boost release may be smoother.  Last year I did a transition 
to 1.49 just 6 weeks or so after the transition to 1.48.  So one thought is to 
do the transition to 1.53 as soon as possible, then do another transition 
closer to when the Ubuntu release is freezing.  (when might that be?)
