If you scan without a script, can you get all scans to succeed?

1) For the driver, I am primarily interested in knowing if all the
resolutions and modes, work, or whether there is some mode that needs
programming to get the image correct.

2) with debug messages, we can tell if there is a problem with
timeouts, or resets.

3) the network backend part probably requires more work, and further
debug. I'm not familiar with it though.
